Eddy Richard Fenner, 90, of Hillsboro, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
He was born Aug. 9, 1931, in an old converted school house at Concord Township near Mowrystown, the son of Ora Edward and Ethel Mae (Lindsey) Fenner.
Prior to his 1949 graduation from Hillsboro High School, he survived polio, but continued to deal with the effects of the disease. He loved and served the Lord throughout his life in several congregations after becoming a Christian at age 9. Many lives were influenced for the Lord as he taught, witnessed and served as an elder for 63 years.
Ed worked in a variety of capacities during his lifetime. He enlisted and supported his much-loved country in the Navy for four years. He worked as a butcher, salesman, farmer, machinist and real estate agent. He was deeply devoted to his family and cherished every moment he could spend with them.
Ed was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Ruth (Wilson) Fenner (1984); and his second wife, Betty Jean (English Claibourne) Fenner (2022); his parents, Ora and Mae Fenner; and sisters, Evelyn (Gordon) Taylor, Glenna (Scott) Butler.
He is survived by daughter, Karen (Dan) Hamilton; stepsons, Tim and Tom (Linnea) Claibourne; sisters-in-law, Wanda Allman and Marilyn Fender; grandchildren, Sarah (Ryan)( Casper, Mark (Jenny) Hamilton, Heidi Claibourne, Haley Claibourne, Leah (Evan) King, Anya (Will) Masse and Micah Claibourne; eight great-grandchildren, Owen, Jonah, Nolan, Lucy, Rosie, Haidyn, Levi and Ridge; special nieces and nephews, Randy Butler, Mark Butler, Tammy Chaplin, Jackie Arthur, Brady Allman, Ken Fender, Kim Hess and Alex Butler. Included in the group of neighbors, friends, relatives and church family would be special mention of a dear friend and cousin, Don (Sherry) Wilkin.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with the funeral service following at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 7 at the Marshall Church of Christ. Dan Hamilton, Tom Stoops and Tom Claibourne will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
