Douglas 'Doug' Shane Crum

Douglas “Doug” Shane Crum, 54, of Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023 after battling an extended illness at the Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati.

He was born Dec. 1, 1968 in Wilmington, the son of Victor and Sandra (Yarger) Crum.

Doug was a 1987 Whiteoak High School graduate, and he went on to earn his associate degree from ITT Technical Institute in Dayton. He was a Civil Engineer who worked for many years at Highland Stone/Hanson’s until 2016. He was also an expert with a backhoe and enjoyed digging pools, basements and ponds.

Douglas is survived by his mother, Sandra Crum of Hillsboro; brother, Brian (Tara) Crum of Hillsboro; nephew, Joshua David Crum of Hillsboro; two aunts, Arlene Cox of Hillsboro and Connie (John) Hanna of Hillsboro; several cousins; and many friends.

Douglas was preceded in death by his father, Victor Irwin Crum, on April 6, 2011; maternal grandparents, Henry and Evelyn Yarger; and paternal grandparents, Chester and Minnie Crum.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, April 4 at 1 p.m. following visitation. Burial will follow services in the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery.
