Donald W. Basye

Donald W. Basye, 84, of South Salem, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023 at his home, following a lingering illness.

He was born Jan. 25, 1939 in Fayette County, a son of the late Charles and Doris Lafferty Basye.

Donald retired after 40 years working at The Waddell Company, assembling the quality show cases The Waddell Company was known for. For several years, he attended the United Brethren Church in Greenfield.

He married the former Cora C. Skaggs on Oct. 13, 1962. Cora preceded him in death on March 28, 2020.

He is survived by two daughters, Angela F. Basye of South Salem and Christian D. Basye and her special friend, Margaret Andrews of Circleville; three grandsons, Ronald Houseman II, Brandon Houseman and John Davis II; seven great-grandchildren, Ronald, Christopher, Raven, Bella Cora Rose and Madelynn Houseman, Easton Davis, Kaleb Rinehart and Isaac Garrison; one sister, Judy (Denver) Herron; one brother, Curtis (Joi) Basye; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Mark Wayne Basye; three sisters, Rosie, Marge and Maribelle; and four brothers, Ike, John, Webb and Eddie.

Donald will be laid to rest with his family in the Good Hope Cemetery. No visitation or funeral service will be held. The Anderson-Ebright Funeral Home, Greenfield is serving the family.
