Donald R. “Butch” Davis, 77, of Wilmington, passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022 at the Kindred Hospital in Dayton.
He was born Oct. 25, 1944 in Wilmington, the son of the late Stanley Arthur Davis and Avonelle Wynola Walls Davis.
Butch was a graduate of Martinsville High School and the University of Cincinnati. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from the Warren County Career Center as a Machine Trades Instructor. Prior to teaching, he was a tool and die maker. Butch was also a member of the Wilmington Elks Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Davis of Wilmington; son, Donnie (Susan) Davis of Wilmington; daughter, Allyson (Bart) Couch of Carlisle; stepdaughter, Melissa (Karen) Whittenburg of Wilmington; stepson, Brad (Jennifer) Salisbury of Stanton, Ky.; 11 grandchildren, Emily (Luke) Brittan, Zachary Davis, Joshua (Jordan) Couch, Jason (Hannah) Couch, Allen (Tyler) Couch, Alex Couch, Jack Whittenburg, Gabby Whittenburg, Brady Salisbury, Lauren Salisbury and Jillian Hummelgard; two great-grandchildren, Landon Curtis Couch and Lillian Rochelle Couch; brother, Ron (Marilyn) Davis; sister, Dolly (Bob) Black; and several nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services will be held Monday, Jan. 10, 2022 at Sugar Grove Cemetery with the Wilmington American Legion Honor Guard presenting military honors.
Friends will be received Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022 from 3-5 p.m. at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, Wilmington.
