Donald Leroy Smith, 78, of Huber Heights, passed away May 22, 2022 from heart disease.
He was born Jan. 25, 1944 in Dayton, the son of the late Charles Smith and Delores (Fauber) Dennis.
Donald and his late wife, Geneva, raised a daughter and three sons in Huber Heights. After working for Honeywell for over 35 years, Donald retired to spend more time with his family and friends and to pursue his passion for golfing. He was a member of Cactus John’s Saloon in Huber Heights and loved hanging out with all his friends there and sometimes bragging or complaining about his golf game. Donald especially looked forward to the Fauber family reunions every year, where he would reminisce about fond memories growing up on his Uncle Ralph and Aunt Joanne Fauber’s family farm in Hillsboro.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Teresa Woods and son-in-law, Russell Woods; sons, Russell Smith, David Smith and Doug Smith; grandchildren, Samantha Smith, Grace Smith and Raylyn Smith; sister, Kathleen Gordon, and brothers, Kenneth Smith and Robert Smith; his partner, Christie Waddell and her son, Jonathan Waddell; and his many nieces, nephews and loving family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva M. Smith.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, 138 E. Main St. Hillsboro with Pastor Lloyd Shoemaker officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the services.
