Donald Lee Sparks

Donald Lee Sparks, 85, of Peebles, passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2024.

He was born Oct. 24, 1938 in Columbus, the son of the late Hubert G. and Naomi C. (Robinson) Sparks.

After graduating from high school, Don served his Country in the U.S. Army. He worked construction, where he was a pod mixer and carried block; owned and trained race horses; was a butcher for several years; and became a State Meat Inspector.

He is survived by two sisters, Susie Hart of Columbus and Jan Ivester of Illinois; dear friends who cared for Don, James and Virginia Allen of Peebles; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Y. (Kuehner) Sparks, on April 20, 2023; and one brother, Benny Sparks.

Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 21, 2024 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 21, 2024 at 1 p.m. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard, followed by graveside services at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sinking Spring.
