David L. Thomas, 75, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018 at Edgewood Manor of Greenfield.

He was born on March 21, 1943 in Fayette County, the son of John Tilden and Thelma Beatrice (VanPelt) Thomas.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Washington C.H. and served in the Army National Guard. He was owner of Dave’s Body Shop for over 50 years and was known all over the county for collecting aluminum cans from his golf cart.

He is survived by his wife, Betty (Penn) Thomas, whom he married on Sept. 23, 1967; one daughter, Tiffany (Glenn) Penwell of Greenfield; one grandson, Nicholas Penwell of Greenfield; and “little buddy” Max; siblings, Jeanie Hidy of Vista, Calif., Darlene Schiller of Columbus, Jim (Mary Lou) Thomas of Washington C.H., Sandy Isaacs of London, Mike Thomas of Spencer, Tenn., and Rick (Helen) Thomas of Washington C.H.; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Teresa Pollard and Howard Coonrod.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Jack Thomas; one sister, Sharon Knudsen; and both parents.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Chris Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
