Darlene Davis Campbell, 83, of Wilmington, passed away Dec. 19, 2024 at the Ohio Living Cape May Retirement Community in Wilmington.
She was born May 14, 1941 in Naugatuck, W.Va., daughter of John Lewis and Merlie (Thompson) Davis and Merlie Thompson, both deceased.
Darlene was a professional secretary, most notably a secretary to the bishop of the Ohio Synod, Lutheran Church of America. She retired in 2003. She was a reader and a seamstress and enjoyed cooking, travel and genealogy. She was a member of Faith Lutheran, Wilmington, and a part of the women's Bible study. In previous congregations, she served as youth leader and in other roles.
She is survived by her husband, Pastor Doug Campbell; a son, Matthew Burnett of Newark; a daughter, Lori (Mike) Rodenhauser, of Wilmington; a stepdaughter, Heather (Brian) Martin, of Centerville; a stepson, Matthew Campbell, Sidney; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, John Lewis (Brenda) Davis, of Centerburg; and a sister, Joan (Don) Griffith, of Newark.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Jan. 6, 2025 at Faith Lutheran Church, 421 East Vine Street at Prairie Ave., Wilmington, with Pr. Joel Richter presiding. Interment will follow in the Fernwood Cemetery, Lockbourn. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 9 a.m. until the time of services on Monday, Jan. 6 at the church.
