Daniel (Dan) Louis Wolfer, 98, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Oct. 15, 2017 in Tucson, Ariz.
He was born Jan. 7, 1919 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of the late Alfred and Carrie (Trapp) Wolfer.
He was a graduate of Anderson Township High School in Mt. Washington. He served as an aviation cadet in the United States Army Air Corps. He was discharged in 1945 as a first lieutenant.
He was married to the late Rita Rose Bushelman on Sept. 13, 1947 in Vera Cruz.
Dan was a well-known and highly respected farmer for over 60 years in Highland County, active in the Ohio Wool Growers and owned one of the largest sheep farms in southern Ohio.
He is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and William Dubiel of Madison, Sue and Doug Vance of Tucson, Ariz. and Kay and Steve Unguran of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandsons, Cory Vance (Meaghan, New York), Stuart Vance (Nickia, Kansas), Trajan Dubiel (Michigan), Justin Dubiel (Meghann, Florida), and Derek Unguran (Arizona); and 10 great-grandchildren, Cade, Skylar and Graham Vance, Kole, Eli and Ty Vance, Téa and Mikel Dubiel, Emmy and Blake Dubiel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Norman Robert (Bob), James Nicholas (Jim), John William (Jack), Alfred Joseph (Dude), Paul Eugene (Paul), Thomas Jerome (Tom) and Donald Richard (Dick); and one sister, Janet Rose Reveal.
At Dan’s request, his body was cremated. His cremains will be buried beside his wife at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Fayetteville on Dec. 9 at 11 a.m.
The family requests no flowers and suggests that memorial donations be made to a favorite charity in Dan’s name.
