Charlie Russell Creed, 82, of Lynchburg, passed away March 14, 2022, surrounded by his family.
He was born June 30, 1939 in Lynchburg to Russell and Naomi Winkle Creed.
Charlie loved his family and was often heard sharing stories about them with pride and joy in his voice. He loved going to all the grandkids’ ballgames and cheering them on.
In 1957, Charlie graduated from Lynchburg High School. He went to work for Ford Motor Company. On Dec. 18, 1961, he entered the U.S. Army and ranked as SP/4, Specialist Creed and was honorably discharged Dec. 18, 1964, after which he returned to Ford Motor Company and retired with a total of 42 and a half years’ employment in 2001.
As a longtime member of the Fairview Church of Christ, Charlie loved God and served as an elder and treasurer. He and Barbara enjoyed Sunday services, Wednesday night Bible study and meeting with their friends to fellowship. They also shared many meals at their favorite restaurants, traveled and watched old westerns, sports and the Outdoor Channel.
A member of the National Rifle Association and the Ohio Gun Collectors Association, he was an avid hunter. Charlie also enjoyed collecting model cars, playing golf and gardening.
He married Barbara Frost, who survives, on May 19, 2019. He is also survived by sons, Russell (Cheryl) Creed and Darren (Carri) Creed; daughters, Sandra (Greg) Warner and Sondra (Tom) Warner; stepdaughter, Brandy (Shane) West; stepson, Parker Jason Pfister; two granddaughters, Makayla Creed and Brook Warner; grandson, Trevor Warner; four step-grandchildren, Emily (Michael) LaCivita, Brea (Ben) Thurgood, Casey West and Scout Pfister; one great-granddaughter, Allie; two brothers, Ronnie Creed and Kenny (Liz) Creed; one sister, Sandy (Tommy) Phillips; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Russell's mother Peggy; and Sonja, wife of 47 years and mother of Darren.
A celebration of life will take place Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Fairview Church of Christ, Don Thomas officiating. Masks are encouraged. Burial follows at Barnes Cemetery, with military rites provided by the Highland County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fairview Church of Christ, 4200 U.S. 50, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
