Charles “Bill” William Lunsford Sr., 79, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 7, 2025 at Highland District Hospital.
He was born Jan. 26, 1946 in Jeffersonville, the son of the late Orville and Marie (Ballsinger) Lunsford.
He attended and was baptized in a small church in Marshall when he was first married. Bill loved being outdoors fishing, hunting and camping. He also enjoyed spending time with family. He was always a jokester and enjoyed smoking the peace pipe with friends.
He is survived by his children, Amy Patton of Hillsboro, Charles Lunsford Jr. of Hillsboro, Cindy Lunsford of Hillsboro, Tammy (Blaine) Bradds of Hillsboro, Alissa Hart of Sinking Spring, Travis (Brenda) Kirk of Sinking Spring and Elizabeth Lunsford of Hillsboro; 12 grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Jack Lunsford, Bessie (Tom) Cooper and Don Lunsford; ex-wife and life long friend, Celesta “Mae” Lunsford; and close friends, Jack and Joleene.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dan Lunsford; grandson, Cody Patton; and son-in-law, Jeff Patton.
In keeping with his wishes, Bill will be cremated, and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Even in his death Bill gave a final gift of life by being an organ and tissue donor.
