Charles T. Gloyd

Charles T. Gloyd, 87, of Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the Four Seasons in Washington C.H.

He was born Aug. 9, 1935 in Mt. Orab, the son of the late Thomas Gloyd.

Charles was a handyman and could fix or restore about anything. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and cooking, and he will be greatly missed.

Charles is survived by three children, Shirley (Carmon) Throckmorton, Richard (Mariah) Gloyd and Bryan Gloyd; a stepson, Terry Gloyd; eight grandchildren, Dennis Richard (Kristina) Penwell Jr., Tony Daniel (Elizabeth) Penwell, Charles David Penwell, Foster Carlos Walters, Christy Mae Fox, Nikita Faith Gloyd, Infanity Nicole Gloyd and Clinton Blair; four great-grandchildren, Isabella Blair, Leony Penwell, Skylar Penwell and Kelley Penwell; longtime friend and caregiver, Tina Crago; and numerous siblings, nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Gloyd, in 2016; and a daughter-in-law, Jessica Gloyd.

There will be no visitation. A celebration of Charles’s life and burial will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family. The Turner & Son Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
