Charles R. Fulkerson, 88, of Hillsboro, passed away Monday, Aug. 24, 2020 at his home.  

He was born April 14, 1932 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Cecil and Bernice (Rowe) Fulkerson.  

He was a former employee of Hillsboro Manufacturing after 20-plus years of service. He served in the U.S. Marines and was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 61. He was an avid mushroom and coon hunter and a lifelong Los Angeles Dodgers fan.

He is survived by his children, Ron (Helen Proctor) Fulkerson of Hillsboro, David (Lori) Fulkerson of Blanchester, Roger (Tami) Fulkerson of New Market, Brian Fulkerson of Wilmington, Rebecca (Paul) Shanks of Hillsboro, Jeff Fulkerson of Hillsboro, Allison (Dave) Elliott of Hillsboro, Scott Fulkerson of Hillsboro and April (Jeremy Hiler) Fulkerson of Hillsboro; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth, Richard and Gary Fulkerson, all of Hillsboro; one sister, Patty Rand of Hillsboro; and a close friend, Roger Lucas of Hillsboro. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for all their care.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Fulkerson on Feb. 6, 2013; one son, Christopher Fulkerson; one granddaughter, Natosha Fulkerson; two brothers, Fred and Stanley Fulkerson; and one sister, Eleanor Fenner.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29 at the Stringtown Cemetery with Brother Wylie Perkins officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard. The Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro is serving the family.
