Charles R. “Dick” Rhonemus, 70, of Lynchburg, passed away Wednesday morning, Aug. 19, 2015 at the Otterbein Care Center in Lebanon.

He was born Oct. 27, 1944 at home on the family farm, the son of Robert Richard Rhonemus and Mary (Hatch) Howsman.

He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. He was the owner/operator of the Lost Fort Archery Club, was the past president of the Bass Club at G.M., loved collecting arrowheads and other Indian artifacts and enjoyed cooking and spending time on the family farm of which he was so proud. Visiting flea markets, yard sales and auctions was a favorite pastime, as well as woodworking, gardening, pulling garden tractors, motocross racing and fishing. He also loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by two children, Lori (David) Anderson of Oregonia and Doug (Angela) Rhonemus of Martinsville; his companion, Wanda Cochran of Florida; six grandchildren, Josh and Megan Anderson, Brittany, Kirk, Tyler, and Ashley Rhonemus; three great-grandchildren, Dominic, Aliyah and Isabella; and his mother, Mary Howsman, of Highland.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Richard Rhonemus.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Burial will follow in the Troutwine Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
