Charles D. “Chuck” Rhoads, 76, of Highland, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 12, 2019 at Highland District Hospital.

He was born Aug. 5, 1943 near Marshall, the son of the late John and Inez (Davidson) Rhoads.

He is survived by three children, Susan Jones and Michael Rhoads, both of Highland, and Bridgette (Shawn) Countryman of Greenfield; four grandchildren, Benjamin Breeden of Leesburg, Kate Jones of Wilmington, and Tanner and Crosby Countryman, both of Greenfield; three great-grandchildren, Avery Grace Breeden, Alexa Raye Breeden and Rhett Michael Breeden; two sisters, Ann (Jerry) Cline of Hillsboro and Dorothy (Allen) Coleman of Leesburg; a brother, Robert (Judy) Rhoads of Peebles; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Betty C. Rhoads, on March 29, 2011; stillborn twin sons, Tedd and Todd Rhoads; a granddaughter, Riley Brooke Countryman; and eight siblings.

A memorial service and celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial in the Highland Cemetery will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
