Charles “Charlie” Bernard Balon, 73, of Lynchburg, passed away Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021 at Highland District Hospital in Hillsboro.

He was born on Nov. 20, 1947, in Lynchburg, the son of the late John F. and Beatrice (Curl) Balon.

Charlie worked as a supervisor for American Tool Company for 38 years. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing pool, listening to music and admiring old cars. What he loved the most was spending time with his family and friends. Charlie will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jeanie Balon, whom he married on Aug. 17, 1996; six children, Becky Jo (Destery) LeForge of West Chester, Angie (Jim) Juillerat of Hillsboro, Marty Balon of Hillsboro, and children of Vicki Manker, Charles Eric (Angel) Balon of Lynchburg, Jeremy Balon of Brooklyn, New York, and Joshua (Rebecca) Balon of Lynchburg; 13 grandchildren, Ryan, Codey, Carey, Brittney, Austin, Hunter, Olivia, Sophia, J.E.T., Belaha, Brenahlan, Brielahy and Breiellah; a brother, John (Jackie) Balon of Lynchburg; people who held a special place in Charlie’s heart, Pauline Gilliland, Deloris Houk, Rita Hertlein, Charlie Boy Barker, Samantha Crawford and David Terry; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Balon.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22 at the funeral home. Bob Stevens will be officiating. Burial will follow services in the Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery.
