Carol Larkey Dennis

Carol Larkey Dennis, 86, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 2, 2024 at the Trustwell Living at Bell Gardens Place.

She was born Jan. 13, 1938, in Akron, the daughter of the late James Larkey and Gertrude (Buehrer) Larkey.

Those who knew Carol will attest to her instinctive need to nurture and care, as seen in the colorful blooms of her beautiful garden, a place where she spent countless hours. Carol's passion for nurturing extended to her professional life as well. For over three decades, she dedicated herself to enlightening young minds as an English and Spanish teacher in the state of Michigan and Texas. She took great pride in being a published author and editor of manuscripts. In her later years, Carol found solace and strength in her Christian faith and shared her faith with everyone around her.

Carol is survived by her two daughters, Shayla (Robert) Taylor of Peebles and Tammy (Michael) Montagne of Houston, Texas; one grandson, Andrew (Amber) Taylor of Papillion, Neb.; and a brother, Jim Larkey of Swanton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Dennis, whom she married in 1959, and he passed away May 29, 2024.

Gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, Dec. 23, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. until noon at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Sharing of stories about Carol will begin Monday, Dec. 23 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
