Carol J. Shepler

Carol J. Shepler, 76, of Washington C.H., passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, at the Court House Manor following a lingering illness. 

She was born April 24, 1948 in Ross County, a daughter of the late Charles John Jr. and Helen Louise Bowdle Sever. 

Carol married Jack L. Shepler on July 13, 1967, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 2011.

Carol was a member of the first graduating class of Adena High School in 1966. She retired from the Pickaway County Recorder’s office as a deputy clerk. Carol was raised in a large, hard-working family. She was loved by her family, and she will be missed by all that knew her. She loved and cherished all the family gatherings and a good game of cards.  

She is survived by one daughter, Shelly (Jay) Eden of Columbus; three grandsons, Sean, Travis and Key Eden; four great-grandchildren, Reed, Zander, Zoey and Landon Eden; three sisters, Linda (John) Evans and Janet Sexton (Frank Grooms), of Washington C.H. and Melody (Roger) Reed of Sabina; six brothers, Richard Sever of Galloway, Ronald (Barb) Sever, Rodney (Beverly) Sever, Raymond (Brenda) Sever, Randall (Kim) Sever and Robin (Joyce) Sever all of Washington C.H.; one sister-in-law, Sandra Burns of South Bloomfield.

In addition to her parents, John and Helen Sever, Carol was preceded in death by one daughter, Kelly Carpenter; and two brothers, Roger and Russell Sever. 

A funeral service will be held on Monday, Feb. 10 at 11 a.m. at the Ebright Funeral Home in Frankfort with Pastor Don Alexander officiating. Following the service, Carol with be laid to rest with her husband, Jack, and her daughter, Kelly, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Family and friends can visit with her family on Sunday afternoon from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
