Carl D. 'Dave' Howland
Carl D. “Dave” Howland, 65, of Highland, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 9, 2023 at the Highland District Hospital.
He was born June 14, 1957 in Greenfield, the son of the late Robert “Jack” and Lavina (Moore) Howland.
Dave owned and operated Howland Asphalt Seal Coating in Leesburg for over 50 years. He was an enthusiastic supporter of local school basketball and was a devoted and loving husband, father and “pap” to his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Trudy (Cox) Howland; four children, Stacey (Wyatt) Irvin of Highland, Misty (Greg) Bobb and Joshua (Tricia) Howland, both of Leesburg, and Julian Smith of Highland; 10 grandchildren, Alec Irvin, Griffin Irvin, Jennifer (Chris) Kouns, Haley (Tim) Ide, Olivia Bobb, Whitney Bobb, Logan Murphy, Landen (Haven) Murphy, Jadi Howland and Jackson Howland; 10 great -randchildren; and a sister, Penny (Jr.) Duncan of Greenfield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Ronnie Howland, Vernon Howland, Paul Howland and Brenda Phillips.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Leesburg. Tom Stoops will officiate. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
