Betty L. (Ogg) Carpenter, 91, of Sidney, passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018 at Ohio Living Dorothy Love, Sidney.
She was born Nov. 18, 1927 in Berea, Ky., the daughter of William E. and Valeria (Littler) Ogg.
Betty was a 1945 graduate of E.L. McClain High School, and a graduate of Columbus Bliss College. She had a strong work ethic, having lied about her age to work at the American Pad & Textile Company in Greenfield during World War II. She also worked at Paper Linen and retired from Lazarus after 20 years of service.
She was very proud of her 61-year membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR-Ann Simpson Davis Chapter). She also was a member of the Greenfield Historical Society, First Families of Highland County and the Southern Ohio Genealogy Society.
She was an avid traveler, having seen sights in Great Britain, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Canada, Mexico and all 50 states – 49 were in their RV.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Kenneth L. Carpenter; one son, Gary L. Carpenter of Sidney; two sisters, Dotti (David) Moon of Washington C.H., Ada (Harold) Gutridge of Lancaster; three sisters-in-law, Jean Ogg of Ramsey, N.J, Cloe Anna Sulser of Galion, Carolyn (Jon) Hylton of Westerville; many loving nieces and nephews; her special friend, Margie (Walker) Weeks; and her family feline friend, CC.
She was preceded in death by one son, Carlton L. Carpenter; one sister, Nina Williams; one brother, Paul C. Ogg; and both parents.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Joe Current officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Thursday.
