Armetha Ruth Reed, 88, of Cookeville, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at her daughter’s home in Cookeville.
She was born Thursday, Sept. 5, 1929 in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late Earl and Waneta (Locke) Smith.
Armetha was a faithful wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was dedicated to God and family. Her most wonderful accomplishments include instilling Bible knowledge and a desire for a relationship with Christ in her family and all that knew her. She was a prayer warrior that daily took many requests and needs of others to the Lord in prayer.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Victoria and Jack Whiteaker and Katheryn and Cleston Vickers, all of Cookeville, Tenn.; former son-in-law, Ron Tussey of Cookeville, Tenn.; four grandchildren and spouses, Valerie and Greg Smith, Steven and Kim Whiteaker, Melissa Whiteaker and Rhonda and Chris Fields; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Eleanor Helterbrand and Emma and Jack Puckett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Calvin Clark Reed; one infant daughter, Sharon Reed; two sisters; and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 15, 2017 beginning at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home in Sinking Spring.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, Dec. 15, 2017 from noon until time of service at 2 p.m.
