Anne Lund Bagshaw, 81, of Marco Island, Fla. and previously Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Feb. 17, 2021.
She was born Feb. 27, 1939 in Oslo, Norway, the daughter of the late Arne Lund and Kitty (Hansen) Lund.
Anne grew up in Oslo, enjoying many Norwegian traditions, including cross country and downhill snow skiing, knitting, cooking and holiday celebrations. She remembered the German occupation of Oslo during WWII as a very challenging time, which taught her resilience and gave her appreciation for the simple pleasures in her life. After high school, Anne continued her education and became fluent in seven languages.
While studying in Paris, she met her future husband, Bob, who was serving in the US Air Force. Following Bob’s return from the service, they married on Dec. 16, 1961 and lived in Bob’s hometown of Henryville, Ind., which was also the birthplace of Colonel Harland Sanders. In 1971, Bob and Anne opened their first KFC restaurant in Jackson, Ohio, followed by Hillsboro in the spring of 1972. Over the next 47 years, they grew to over 30 restaurants and in 2018, the Bagshaw family exited the restaurant business. Anne was active in the KFC franchise family, making many lifetime friends.
She enjoyed a full life and was fortunate to travel and explore the world. She and Bob traveled extensively and especially enjoyed trips to the Bahamas in their catamaran boat, Annie’s Bobcat. She also loved spending time with family and friends, reading and outdoor activities. The city of Hillsboro had a special place in Anne’s heart, and in June 2020 she donated the beautiful fountain located at the Highland County Courthouse lawn as a gift to Hillsboro from her family.
She is survived by three children, Jeanine (Jeff Rosselot) Bagshaw, Bruce (Laura) Bagshaw and Nanette (Chris) Walker; 11 grandchildren, Rob Holt, Jordan Anne (Seth) Phillips, Jessica Holt, Kristin Jamieson, Blake (Kayla) Bagshaw, Ashleigh (Jacob) Lathram, Austin Bagshaw, Brittni (Scott) Shepherd, Chase Rosselot and Zac and Peyton Walker; five great-grandchildren, Holten and Kirby Anne Phillips, Grayson Bagshaw and Kemper and Maddux Shepherd; her brother, Jon Erik (Anne-Karin) Lund; nephew Arne-Birger Lund and niece Cathrine (Tom-Morten) Brandsborg; cousin, Inger (Bill) McGovern; in-laws, Norma Hazel, Margaret (Ralph) Fordyce and Raymond (Brenda) Bagshaw, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert E. “Bob” Bagshaw, on Aug. 6, 2019.
The family would like to thank and acknowledge Dr. Regina Melink and her wonderful staff at HDH, Angels at Heart Homecare, Hospice of Hope and her in-home caregivers for the love and care provided.
Per Anne’s wishes, there will be no public visitation, and funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
