Ann Tolle Nye, 90, of Hillsboro, passed away due to congestive heart failure Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 surrounded by her family.
She was born Nov. 3, 1926 in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late George Elbert “Chief” Tolle and Nina (Evans) Tolle.
Ann attended Washington Elementary School, was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, playing saxophone in the marching band, and was a member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star.
She married J. William “Bill” Nye in 1948.
She attended Ohio State University and was an operator for Ohio Bell for a period of time. Ann loved gardening, sewing, helping at the Highland County Swim Club, and managing the Highland County Airport. She was a beloved mother and homemaker.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Nye and Jane Nye Woodhouse; grandchildren, Laura Woodhouse Bingham (Rob) and Jason Woodhouse (Caitlyn); sister, Kathryn Tolle Davis (Judge Richard L.); friend, Margo Daugherty; and furry companion, Kelly.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by her older sisters, Helen Tolle Stephens (Cyrus) and Elizabeth “Betty” Tolle Dennison (Blair).
The family wishes to thank Dr. Jeffrey Beery and his staff and Hospice of Hope and their team.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. Thompson Funeral Service is serving the family.
