The April 5 safety meeting for the Rocky Fork Lake area had an overwhelming turnout with a full house of concerned residents, county commissioners and trustees from all three area townships.

The Highland County Health Department was able to attend and gave a great presentation covering all the programs available to the Rocky Fork Lake region. They provided information of what the department does for Highland County and the importance of the funding for the levy coming up for a vote on May 6.

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary 082-06-10 Rocky Fork Detachment attended the meeting and gave a detailed presentation of the services they offer for the lake.

The Highland County Sheriff’s Office showed up in full force, showcasing its K-9 unit, drone division with a live demonstration and an excellent presentation given by Sheriff Randy Sanders, Lt. Craig Seaman, Deputy Sheriff Jennifer Schinkal and several other deputies.

It was learned that five license plate reading cameras were in the possession of the Sheriff’s Department and three of those cameras were allocated to the Rocky Fork Lake Region

Several citizens came forward and asked what they could do to help the HCSO in their efforts.

It was great to see so many folks working together with county officials focused on the same goals.

The more each one of us can do, the better off we will all be.
