ODOT District 9 crews continue clearing roadways

As the last big wave of this week's winter storm passes through the region and road conditions improve significantly, Ohio Department of Transportation - District 9 crews
continue their efforts to clear the state highway system and maintain routes.
Routes throughout much of the area are mostly clear, with some roadways - or sections of roadways - partially covered due to blowing and drifting snow. Drifting snow has been concentrated mostly in Highland County and northern and western Ross County, which received more overall accumulation of snow. Drifting snow is also being reported in Adams, Brown, Jackson and Pike counties, particularly on north-south routes.
In some areas, pavement is wet; these routes, however, are likely to be slick and prone to ice conditions. Motorists are advised of potential black ice and of ice on bridges and overpasses.
Although road conditions have improved, ODOT District 9 crews will continue their snow and ice operations this morning, patrolling, treating and plowing as needed.
Motorists are advised of localized areas of drifting snow and icing due to freeze backs. As always, ODOT reminds drivers that during inclement weather: Ice and Snow...Take it Slow!
Motorists should allow additional travel time, reduce their speed and allow plenty of distance between their vehicle and other vehicles on the road. They are also reminded to give snow plow operators room to work: Don't Crowd the Plow!
