LaRose announces launch of new online resource providing public access to Election Integrity Unit case dispositions
Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose has announced the launch of a new online resource providing public access to Election Integrity Unit (EIU) case dispositions, Ohio Election Integrity Commission advisory opinions, and Commission decision data.
The new page allows Ohioans to easily review dispositions issued following investigations conducted by the Election Integrity Unit and findings made by the Secretary of State since January 1, 2026, when the new process was implemented.
“Enforcing Ohio's election and campaign finance laws is a responsibility we take seriously,” said Secretary LaRose. “Ohioans deserve transparency and accountability when it comes to allegations of election law violations. By making these decisions readily available to the public, we're ensuring voters, candidates, and campaigns can see how complaints are investigated, how violations are addressed, and how the law is applied.”
The Election Integrity Unit serves as the investigative arm of Ohio's election law enforcement system. The EIU receives and reviews complaints for compliance with Ohio law, conducts investigations, gathers evidence, and prepares written reports and recommendations for the Secretary of State.
After receiving an EIU report and recommendation, the Secretary of State may:
Return the matter for further investigation;
Agree with a finding that no violation occurred;
Determine that a violation occurred and impose an administrative fine as permitted by law; or
Refer significant or repeat violations to the appropriate prosecuting authority.
Unless appealed by the respondent, the Secretary's determination concludes the matter. More information about the full process can be found here.
“This is another step toward greater transparency in Ohio elections,” LaRose said. “Public confidence depends on public accountability. Making this information available allows Ohioans to see that election laws are enforced fairly, consistently, and according to the facts.”
The case dispositions now available for public review include $259,000 in fines assessed against individuals or committees related to the Householder racketeering scandal. These cases, which languished for more than five years before the now-defunct Ohio Elections Commission, include Larry Householder (individually), Friends of Larry Householder, Growth & Opportunity PAC Inc., The Coalition for Growth & Opportunity Inc., Generation Now Inc., Hardworking Ohioans Inc., Partners for Progress Inc., Constant Content Co., Jeff Longstreth, and Juan Cespedes. One related case had to be dismissed because the former commission failed to comply in a timely manner with a court order requiring it to consider the case.
Election Integrity Unit case dispositions, Ohio Election Integrity Commission advisory opinions, and Commission decision data are available at www.ohioelectionintegrity.gov/opinions-decisions. The disposition page will be updated weekly moving forward to reflect the latest dispositions.
