Justin Harsha seeks re-election as Hillsboro mayor

Editor's note: In advance of the May 2 primary election, candidates (in contested races) are offered an opportunity to submit an announcement of their respective campaigns for public office. Hillsboro Mayor Justin Harsha has submitted the following announcement to The Highland County Press.

My father and role model, Sandy Harsha, served six years on city council and then served two terms as Mayor of Hillsboro. I have also served six years on city council and am looking to capture my second term as your mayor.

During my first term as mayor, we have pushed forward with positive changes and a vision that Hillsboro would be the city our children would be happy to call home. It would be the place they choose to raise their families.

Two of the projects my administration is working on are the Roberts Lane extension and the Crossroads Park.

The Roberts Lane extension project will connect two commercial districts within the city and open up opportunity for continued commercial, residential and light industrial growth. This investment into our city will make a positive impact on local tax revenue, tourism and enhance the quality of life for Hillsboro citizens.

The Crossroads Park project includes an amphitheater, playground, community center and walking and bike paths on the adjacent former railroad beds. The project will augment the character of our downtown area.

It has been an honor to serve the citizens, and I am committed to making Hillsboro the best it can be. I’m confident in the team working for you. This is an extraordinary group of talented individuals who work tirelessly to improve our city each and every day.
