Investigators with the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal have ruled a storage facility fire in Clinton County as arson and are now seeking tips from the public to identify those responsible.

At 5:46 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, the Blanchester-Marion Township Fire Department and several other fire agencies responded to a fire at the Buckeye State Self Storage located at 931 S. Broadway St. in Blanchester. At the scene, crews found a storage facility on fire.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire; however, one firefighter was taken to the hospital to be treated for burns.

During the investigation, investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Fire and Explosion Investigations Bureau determined the fire was the result of an intentional human act. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the State Fire Marshal’s tip line at 800-589-2728 or the Blanchester Police Department at (937) 783-4702. All tips will be thoroughly investigated.
