The Highland County Health Department will host its 3rd annual Brake for Breakfast event on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 6-8 a.m. in the Health Department parking lot at 1487 North High Street, Hillsboro.

Organized by Highland County Health Department and Highland District Hospital, this popular community event encourages early detection and education as the best protection against breast cancer. Participants can drive through to receive a free breakfast, breast health education materials, and a gift bag – available while supplies last.

“This event is a great way to remind our community that early detection saves lives,” said Connie Page, one of the event organizers. “By taking just a few moments to learn more about breast health, you could make a life-changing difference for yourself or a loved one.”

In addition to breakfast and educational resources, COVID-19 and flu vaccines will also be available on site.

“We’re thrilled to see this event grow each year,” added Misty Hamilton.  “It’s a simple, drive-thru opportunity for residents to take a step toward better health and connect with local resources that support early detection and prevention.”

The Brake for Breakfast event is part of the Highland County Health Department’s ongoing efforts to promote breast cancer awareness, prevention, and community health throughout Highland County.
