HCP columnist Jim Thompson publishes 'The Adventures of Tippy'

Longtime Highland County Press columnist Jim Thompson has published "The Adventures of Tippy," a new paperback book available on Amazon.

HCP readers are familiar with "The Adventures of Tippy," as Jim has devoted several columns to certain chapters of the book.

For those unfamiliar, Jim explains: "Tippy gets left behind when the family moves from the southern Ohio farm to the city. A determined beagle, Tippy takes it upon himself to follow them. A chicken decides to come along and help him with the trip."

The book was independently published on June 30.

Jim Thompson is the most widely read author in the pulp and paper industry worldwide today. He is the author of nearly a dozen books on the pulp and paper industry and has written the weekly column “Nip Impressions” since 2001. He founded his consultancy, Talo Analytic International in 1992 which mainly works for financial institutions investing in the pulp and paper industry. He is also founder of the Light Green Machine Institute and Paperitalo Publications, the largest electronic publisher in the pulp and paper industry worldwide. 

A graduate of Hillsboro (Ohio) High School and the University of Cincinnati holding a BS degree in mechanical engineering, he spent the early years of his career with Procter & Gamble (as engineering supervisor), Westvaco (as assistant engineering manager), Packaging Corporation of America (as mill manager, the highest position in a pulp and paper mill), and finally with Jaakko Poyry, where he was executive vice president. 

Jim and his wife, Laura, live in Duluth, Georgia. They have three grown children and six grandchildren.
