Dr. Terrell attends state coroners education conference

Dr. Paul Terrell, Highland County Corner, recently participated in the Ohio State Coroners Association's 66th annual Education Conference. More than 80 Ohio coroners from across the state attended the conference held in Columbus May 5-7.

The three-day conference, featured many prominent speakers, focused on timely coroner-related issues. Seminar topics included:

• Mandatory State Open Records Training

• Vital Statistics Update

• Prescription Drug Abuse - State Update & Investigative Techniques

• Ohio Violent Death Reporting System Update

• Cause & Manner of Death Case Studies

• Death Investigation & the Religious Community

• Dealing with High Profile Deaths

• Biological Evidence Task Force Update

• Elder Abuse - Investigation Techniques

• Suicides & the Coroner's Role

• OSHA & Industrial Deaths - Investigation Techniques

• Medical-Legal Issues for Coroners and other topics.

The discussions, problems and solutions - unique and similar- posed by these presentations, will be utilized by the Highland County Coroner's Office to improve their effectiveness as they interface with local law enforcement and court system officials.
