Community ready to 'strike it big' for Big Brothers/Big Sisters
“Strike it big!” is the rallying cry for South Central Ohio Big Brothers Big Sisters’ 2010 Bowl for Kids’ Sake. The bowl-a-thon, slated for April 25 at Highland Lanes, is one of two main fund raising events the agency conducts each year.
Participants bowl in teams of five, with each team member required to raise $50 in sponsorships; individual bowlers can be placed on a team. Each bowler receives two free games – shoes included – two free soft drinks and food. Door prizes also will be awarded.
“It’s a way to get together with friends or co-workers, raise money for a good cause, win prizes and have fun,” Executive Director Karen McDonald-Myers said. “It’s something that everyone can do.”
McDonald-Myers emphasized that having fun and helping the community, not scoring a perfect 300, are the order of the day.
“Anyone can bowl, and scores don’t matter,” she said. “This is about helping kids and not about bowling.”
