200 attend GOP Lincoln Day Dinner Saturday night to hear Vivek Ramaswamy

Over 200 attended the Highland County Republican Party’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner Saturday, March 29 at the Back Room Paradise event center on Miller Lane.
Gary Abernathy, a local journalist with a long career in politics, served as the master of ceremonies. Attendees enjoyed a full-course buffet dinner by Jill’s Farmhouse Catering.
Keynote speaker Vivek Ramaswamy was warmly welcomed with a standing ovation. He gave a rousing speech lasting several minutes.
As a 2024 presidential candidate and now an Ohio gubernatorial candidate for 2026, Ramaswamy told the crowd he wants to lead Ohio to be the top state in the country to start and grow a business. Educational achievement for all children would be a priority in his administration.
Ramaswamy stated he looks forward to returning to Highland County in the near future.

he “Republican of the Year” award was presented by Executive Chair Paulette Donley to Jeff and Marie Richmond for their work and support of the county GOP over the years.
U.S. Rep. David Taylor, State Senator Shane Wilkin, Rep. Bob Peterson, Court of Appeals Judges Mike Hess and Kristy Wilkin, and several local officeholders were present and introduced.
The event closed with the singing of “God Bless America.”
