Michael “Mike” A. Cottrell, 67, of Hillsboro, passed away Friday, June 16, 2023 at UC Medical Center. 

He was born March 29, 1956 in Washington Court House, the son of Clarence Billy Joe Cottrell and the late Rosemary Marie (Dilley) Cottrell.

Mike loved to go fishing and spending time with his family. 

In addition to his father, Mike is survived by his wife, Sandra “Sandy” Kay Nichols Cottrell, whom he married on June 22, 1996; children, Randi (Brian) Pitzer of Hillsboro and Stephen (Kimberlee) Jacobs of Sabina; grandchildren, Clayton, Zackary (Harley), Hayden, Sarah, Sophia, Brayley, Kinzey and Dawson; siblings, Julie Ann (Melvin) Ward of Washington Court House and Ed (Blanche) Cottrell of Greenfield; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Sharon (Rick) Fithen. 

In addition to his mother, Mike was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Florence Nichols. 

A gathering of family and friends to honor and remember Mike will be held on Tuesday, June 20 from 11 a.m. until time of memorial service at noon at Turner & Son Funeral Home.
