Margaret J. 'Peggy' Helfinstine
Margaret J. “Peggy” Helfinstine, 85, of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023 at Heartland of Hillsboro.
She was born Jan. 18, 1938 in Jersey City, N.J.
Peggy retired from banking in the Dayton area after a career of nearly 30 years. She was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ, was a longtime sign language interpreter in Highland County and volunteered at KAMP Dovetail for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ralph L. Helfinstine Sr., whom she married Nov. 13, 1965 in Dayton; two sons, Richard Dennis (Robert Peelle) Helfinstine of Wilmington and Ralph LeRoy Jr. (Ann Marie) Helfinstine of Centerville; four grandchildren, Jason (Aubrey) Helfinstine, Christopher Johnson, Kelly (Adam Wiley) Johnson and Ashley (Brandon) Link; and seven great-grandchildren, Claire, Macy, Ryder, Austin, Madison, Matthew and Raelyn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Randy Alan Helfinstine; and two sisters, Martha and Betsy.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Leo Kuhn will officiate. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
