Manchester man sentenced to at least 11 years in prison for fentanyl possession

The Adams County Common Pleas Court announced Thursday that a Manchester man has been sentenced to at least 11 years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated possession of drugs.

“Pursuant to a professional and thorough investigation conducted by several officers of the Adams County Sheriff’s Department, on June 8, Common Pleas Judge Brett M. Spencer, sentenced Carlos Dean, 45, convicted of aggravated possession of drugs, specifically fentanyl, to the maximum sentence of an indefinite term of 11 to 16 and a half years, to be served at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections,” the announcement from the court says. “Dean was further ordered to be subject to mandatory post-release control supervision upon release from prison.”

Dean pleaded guilty May 15 to the fentanyl possession charge.

According to court records, Dean was indicted in March on the first-degree felony charge, with the indictment alleging that Dean “did knowingly, obtain possess or use” 38 grams of fentanyl around March 8-10. Also allegedly found in his possession was $5,228. Along with his prison sentence, the cash; two revolvers; and a pistol were ordered to be forfeited.
