Loretta Lee Binkley

Loretta Lee Binkley, 73, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 3, 2023 at the Bethesda North Hospital.

She was born Sept. 7, 1949 in Hillsboro to the late Leo W. and Faye D. Frost Pitzer.

Loretta was a person of great faith, compassion and was full of life. She was a hard worker, a very loving mother and an amazing best friend. She loved talking to everyone she met along her path and left a special mark on everyone.

Loretta grew up on a farm outside of Lynchburg where she peddled eggs with her father and also helped her mother at Snow Hill Country Club when she was a teenager. Later on, she was a waitress at a few special spots in Hillsboro, including The Wooden Spoon, The Parker House, The Fireside in Lynchburg and the Lynchburg Family Diner. She also worked for American Showa and Continental Manor in Blanchester. In Loretta’s spare time, she loved the outdoors. In the spring and summer, you could find her tending to her flowers and mowing. She also loved cooking and spending time with her family. Loretta was a genuinely beautiful soul who will be forever missed.

She is survived by one sister, Luann Welch of Warsaw, Ky.; three children, Scott (Tracy) Binkley of Lynchburg, Michael Binkley of Piketon and Katie (Steve) Setty of Blanchester; a longtime companion, Kenny Allen; six grandchildren, Katessa Binkley of Columbus, Hannah and McKayla Binkley of Lynchburg, Courtney Cluxton of Owensville and Logan and Bryce Binkley of Lynchburg; one future granddaughter, Harper Lee Setty; and three great-grandchildren, Jaelyn, Michael and Brooklyn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law.

Upon her passing, she requested to be cremated and a celebration of life be held at a later date.

In her honor, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105; the Shriner’s Hospital, One Children’s Plaza-2 W, Dayton 45404; or the Cancer Research Institute, 29 Broadway, 4th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10006-3111.
