Lady Indians gain FAC win over Washington

The Hillsboro Lady Indians earned their sixth win of the season Monday night by defeating the Washington Lady Blue Lions, 13-3, as this was the Frontier Athletic Conference opener for the 2023 season.
The Lady Indians (6-2) scored two runs in the bottom of the first, then extended their lead to 4-1 following another two-run inning in the second. Washington made it a 4-3 score following the top of the fourth, but that score changed in the bottom of the same inning with HHS scoring four runs for an 8-3 lead.
HHS tacked on another two-run inning in the fifth and added three final runs in the bottom of the sixth for the 10-run win.
Hillsboro finished with 14 hits and had three errors, while Washington finished with three hits and committed 10 errors.
Eowyn Brown led HHS at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance, collecting three runs, one RBI, a double, a steal and was hit by a pitch. Camryn Spruell was also 3-for-4 to lead the Lady Indians, with three RBI and a double.
Chloe Roberts was 2-for-2 with two runs, one RBI and a walk, and Hannah Burton finished 2-for-4 with a run.
Halle Reveal went 1-for-4 with three runs, one RBI and a walk, while teammate Kinsey Gilliland was 1-for-4 with one run and two RBI.
Addie Huff was 1-for-4 with a run and a steal. Isabelle Brunck finished the game 1-for-3 with two runs and a walk. Morgan Garman finished with an RBI.
Spruell was the winning pitcher as she allowed three unearned runs on three hits and five walks. Spruell finished with 16 strikeouts, totaling 117 pitches, 69 for strikes, as she faced 27 batters in the win.
