Lady Indians fall to Goshen, defeat Wilmington

Hillsboro drops road game at Goshen
Traveling to Goshen High School on a Wednesday evening the Hillsboro Lady Indians were unable to return to Highland County with a win, falling to the Goshen Lady Warriors by a 62-57 score in non-conference play.
Goshen led 20-14 after the first frame, and both teams were nearly even in the second quarter scoring numbers with GHS winning the frame at 17-16 for a halftime lead over Hillsboro of 37-30.
Hillsboro won the third frame at 15-4, and the fourth quarter saw Goshen have a 21-point eight-minute frame, while the Lady Indians scored 12 points in the fourth.
Kobie Miles was the Lady Indians’ leading scorer with 18 points, as she also had four rebounds, four assists and five steals. Miles made one 3-pointer in the loss, and she was 9-of-15 from the free-throw line.
Tylee Davis totaled 12 points for HHS, as she was 4-of-9 from the free-throw line, along with making four two-point baskets. Davis also collected eight rebounds, one assist and four steals.
Ella Jordan totaled eight points with one 3-pointer, plus she had five rebounds and three assists. Teammate Annia Young ended the game with six points and a team-high 11 rebounds, and she also had a block.
Taylor-Ann Scruggs ended the game with 10 points, making four two-point baskets, and she was 2-of-2 from the free-throw line, plus she added four rebounds and two steals. Parker Wilkin scored three points as she made a 3-pointer, plus she added two rebounds and one assist. Piper Wilkin collected a steal for HHS.
As a team, the Lady Indians totaled 34 rebounds (11 offensive), eight assists, 13 steals and one block, plus they ended with 24 turnovers.

Lady Indians defend home court with win over Wilmington
Staying home on Monday night, the Hillsboro Lady Indians defended their home court with a non-conference victory over the visiting Wilmington Lady Hurricane by a 64-38 score at the Hillsboro High School Gymnasium.
Hillsboro jumped out to an eight-point lead at the end of the first quarter, leading 21-13, then they outscored Wilmington 17-6 in the second quarter for a halftime lead of 38-19.
HHS took their 19-point halftime lead and extended it to 25 points as they outscored Wilmington 14-8 in the third. In the fourth, HHS eventually won by 26 points as they won the final frame at 12-11.
The Indians had a 25-point performance from Tylee Davis against Wilmington, as she was 6-of-14 from the field and she finished 13-of-15 from the free-throw line. Davis had a double-double by grabbing 19 rebounds, including 14 defensive rebounds. Davis also added four assists and five blocks to her final numbers in the win.
Kobie Miles finished with 18 points as she was 6-of-12 from the field, plus she made four 3-pointers. Miles went 2-of-4 from the free-throw line and added four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Ella Jordan totaled 13 points for the Lady Indians, as she made one 3-pointer and was 5-of-10 from the field. She also collected seven rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Annia Young ended the game with six points, nine rebounds and one block. Young shot 75 percent from the field in the win.
Kylee-Ann Scruggs ended the game with two points and one rebound. HHS also had Piper Wilkin finish with four rebounds and a team-high seven assists. HHS also had Taylor-Ann Scruggs finish with four rebounds, one assist and two steals.
As a team, the Lady Indians collected 48 rebounds (13 offensive), with 15 assists, 10 steals and one block, plus they had 16 turnovers.
