Hillsboro man sentenced on sexual battery charges

A Hillsboro man was sentenced to six and a half years in prison Friday morning after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual battery.

Donald Lee Hill, 46, was charged by a Highland County grand jury May 2 with five counts of sexual battery, all third-degree felonies. He pleaded guilty Aug. 11 to the first two counts of the indictment, with the other three charges dismissed.

The indictment accused Hill of engaging in “sexual conduct” with the victim during parts of 2010-13. Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss called the facts of the case “particularly abhorrent” during the hearing.

Coss agreed to follow the recommended sentence agreed upon by the state, defense and the victim. Hill was sentenced to 36 months in prison for the first count, consecutive to 42 months on the second count, for a total of 78 months in prison. He had jail time credit of 99 days.

In addition, Hill will be classified as a tier III sex offender, requiring registration every 90 days for life.
