Hillsboro man sentenced to community control for failure to register change of address

A Hillsboro man was sentenced to community control last week after pleading guilty to failure to register a change of address as a registered sex offender.

David A. Williams, 29, of Hillsboro was charged with the fourth-degree felony during the April grand jury session.

The indictment alleged that beginning on or about Jan. 14 and continuing thereafter, Williams “failed to provide notice of any change of address within 20 days by written notice.” He is a Tier I registered sex offender and has “a duty to register annually and 20 days before an address change and within three days of an address change,” the indictment says.

Williams pleaded guilty to the charge July 13, according to court records.

On Aug. 24, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Williams to three years of community control and ordered him to successfully complete a recommended treatment program.
