Hillsboro man gets community control in meth trafficking case

A Hillsboro man was sentenced to community control last week after pleading guilty to his role in a drug trafficking case.

Jamie Wisecup, 30, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in June on two counts — aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine and aggravated possession of methamphetamine, both third-degree felonies — as he was charged jointly with co-defendant Donald Elliott.

Wisecup pleaded guilty to the trafficking charge in July, according to court records. The indictment alleged that on or about Nov. 1, 2022, Wisecup “did knowingly sell or offer to sell” meth “in an amount equal to or exceeding bulk amount but less than five times bulk amount.”

During a hearing Aug. 24, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Wisecup to three years of community control. Wisecup was ordered to be assessed for treatment and to complete any recommended program, according to court records.

Wisecup was also ordered to pay $100 in restitution jointly and severally with Elliott.

As previously reported, Elliott was sentenced to six years in prison earlier this month, after pleading guilty to two second-degree felony charges of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine in the vicinity of a juvenile.
