Winchester woman charged with aggravated theft

The former North Adams Athletic Boosters was indicted recently on a third-degree felony charge of aggravated theft, as previously reported by the Peebles Messenger.

Amie Gardner, 51, of Winchester, was indicted by an Adams County grand jury June 2, according to court records. The indictment alleges that between Jan. 1, 2022 and Sept. 1, 2025, Gardner “did  … knowingly obtain or exert control over” money valued between $150,000 and $750,000 belonging to the Athletic Boosters.

Gardner was arraigned July 1 and pleaded not guilty to the charge. As part of her bond, she was ordered not to “act in a fiduciary capacity for other’s financial accounts.”

The Peebles Messenger reported that Gardner “served with the North Adams Athletic Boosters for 14 years, including 11 years as president.” Gardner stepped down from the organization last year, according to a Facebook post by the North Adams Boosters.
