Winchester man pleads guilty to drug trafficking

A Winchester man pleaded guilty in Brown County Common Pleas Court Tuesday to drug trafficking and weapons charges.
Brian Sandera, 45, pleaded guilty to a second-degree felony charge of aggravated trafficking in drugs with a forfeiture specification for guns, money and property, as well as third-degree felony count of having weapons while under disability, before Brown County Common Pleas Court Judge Scott T. Gusweiler. Sandera was represented by attorney Gary A. Rosenhoffer.

For the drug trafficking charge, Gusweiler sentenced Sandera to a mandatory confinement of four years in the Ohio Department of Corrections; a mandatory fine of $7,500, all of which was remitted as Sandera is indigent; court costs; and a forfeiture of $462, an HP laptop computer and Sandera’s “interest, if any, in” five different weapons to the Brown County Drug and Major Crimes Task Force.
Sandera was also sentenced to one year in the Ohio Department of Corrections for the weapons under disability charge, which will be served concurrently with the sentence imposed for drug trafficking. Sandera was credited with 33 days of jail time.
As previously reported in The Highland County Press, on March 14, agents from the Brown County Drug and Major Crimes Task Force, with assistance from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at 10437 Oakwood Road in Winchester. A search of the property revealed an indoor marijuana growing operation, prescription pills, a large amount of crystal methamphetamine, firearms and US currency.
Sandera was taken into custody. A Brown County Grand Jury later indicted Sandera on two fourth-degree felony charges of aggravated trafficking in drugs; the aforementioned second-degree felony charge of aggravated trafficking in drugs; a second-degree felony charge of aggravated possession of drugs; and a third-degree felony charge of having weapons while under disability.
