Wilburn & Wilburn, David Wayne headline entertainment at 2012 Highland County Fair
Although it's still more than three months away, the musical entertainment lineup for the 2012 Highland County Fair is beginning to take shape.
According to Highland County Fair Board member Jeff McCoy, this year's county fair will host two prominent entertainers – David Wayne on Wednesday, Sept. 5 and Wilburn & Wilburn on Thursday, Sept. 6.
Wayne, of southeastern Ohio, plays traditional country music.
According to his website, http://davidwayne1.webs.com, Wayne says "From my early days as a child from Jellico, Tenn., to the green fields of northern Kentucky, to the farm lands of Brown County, Ohio, country music has always been there for me. It takes a feeling of escape from the everyday pressures that we face and feel.
"Jim Reeves' heart and soul. Hank Williams singing a heart so cold. Buck Owens singing 'Together, Again.' I live to keep their dreams alive," Wayne said.
If you enjoy traditional country music, you won't want to miss David Wayne on Sept. 5 at the Highland County Fair. The show starts at 8 p.m.

On Thursday, Sept. 6, the popular father-son duo of Wilburn & Wilburn bring their special brand of gospel music to the Highland County Fair.

"The name Wilburn has been a part of the music industry for several years. It seems as though when you mention this family, people recognize that you are talking about music. Not just any music, but gospel music, that is sung from the heart," according to www.wilburn2.com.
Father Jonathan and son Jordan combine a solid foundation of "old school" gospel with a flair of youthful presence to bring the message of Christ in a song.
The elder Wilburn has been nominated and voted America's No. 1 lead vocalist five times by the subscribers of The Singing News magazine.
"My goal was never set on winning any award," he says. "I just wanted to sing and pray God would use my efforts to bring a little joy to somebody."
Jordan Wilburn is a new name for gospel music but with his ability to present a song with conviction and honesty, this talented young man will be singing his way into your heart very soon, according to the duo's website.
"I have always loved singing about the goodness of Jesus," Jordan says. "My dad has always been my hero and I am looking forward to being up there with him every night doing what God has for us to do."
Wilburn & Wilburn perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6 at the 2012 Highland County Fair.
