Whited named interim police chief

Hillsboro Safety and Service Director Todd Wilkin will name Officer Todd Whited as acting police chief for the City of Hillsboro effective Dec. 1, according to a press release issued by the city.  

The City is in the process of filling the position with a full-time police chief after receiving written notification of the retirement of Chief Nick Thompson.

Chief Thompson has served as the police chief for the past 26 years.  His last date of service will be Nov. 30.
 
"Officer Todd Whited has served the citizens of Hillsboro and Highland County for 15 years," Wilkin stated in the press release. "His knowledge and experience will be invaluable as the city works through this transition.  

"The appointment of Officer Whited will ensure the smooth transition of the department until a new police chief is named."
