An Adams County man was sentenced June 4 in connection with the murder of a 45-year-old Peebles man in 2018.

A jury in Adams County Common Pleas Court this May found Matthew Tolle, 34, of West Union guilty of the murder of Willard Lowe. Tolle was sentenced June 4 to a minimum of 15 years to life in prison, with credit for 249 days of jail time. He was also ordered to pay restitution to cover funeral expenses for the victim.

According to the original article by the Ledger Independent, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded to a “domestic altercation” on Augusta Drive in West Union last September. The 45-year-old victim “had already sustained injuries” when deputies responded to the scene, and “efforts to revive him were unsuccessful,” the Ledger reported. Tolle was indicted and charged with murder in October 2018.
