Wednesday morning snow causes more delays

The Wednesday morning snowfall has prompted Hillsboro City Schools to switch from a two-delay to being closed on March 13.

The Highland County Board of DD and Highco Adult Workshop are on a one-hour delay. Hillsboro Christian Academy also is on a one-hour delay.

Southern State Community College and St. Mary Catholic School have announced two-hour delays for March 13.

Snow began falling after midnight with intermittent flurries from 4-6 a.m. in parts of Highland County.

Forecast

Today's forecast from the National Weather Service calls for snow showers before 9 a.m., with a high near 36. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.

Tonight – A slight chance of snow showers before 8pm, then a chance for flurries before ending. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 22. Northwest wind 9 to 16 mph.

Thursday – Mostly sunny, with a high near 42. West wind 7 to 10 mph.

Thursday Night – A slight chance of rain before 9pm, then a slight chance of rain and snow between 9pm and 11pm, then a slight chance of snow after 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Southwest wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday – Partly sunny, with a high near 53. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the morning.

Friday Night – Showers likely, mainly after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Saturday – Showers likely, mainly before 9am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Saturday Night – A chance of rain and snow showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 33. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday – Rain and snow showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Sunday Night – A chance of rain and snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 33. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Monday – A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 51. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
