The OAFP Foundation (Foundation) is pleased to announce that Saba Qureshi, MD, of Sugarcreek Township, is the recipient of its 2024 Family Physician Mentorship Award.

The Foundation annually presents the Family Physician Mentorship Award to recognize a community-based Ohio family physician who, as a preceptor, has exhibited exemplary qualities and characteristics of mentorship excellence.

Precepting medical students provides an opportunity to share the importance of primary care with the next generation of healthcare professionals. From health record documentation and communication with patients, to the on-site medical decisions and flow within a practice, allowing medical students to engage in the healthcare environment sets them up for success no matter the specialty they choose to pursue.

Dr. Qureshi completed her undergraduate, medical school and residency training through Wright State University and now practices full-time family medicine care in her local town of Sugarcreek Township.

“I am grateful to the Foundation Executive Committee for choosing me as the recipient of the Foundation’s Family Physician Mentorship Award,” Dr. Qureshi said. “I also appreciate their recognition of family medicine preceptors through the state of Ohio. I am very humbled to have been chosen this year, especially when I know I have so many others in my company who would be just as qualified to receive this award.

"Teaching while seeing patients is not an easy task, but it is certainly a rewarding experience. As amazing as it is to have this honor, it is more fulfilling when a student tells me that I impacted their own growth, either personally or professionally. I hope my preceptorship can continue to enrich the lives of many more students to come.”
