The Southern Ohio Indoor Music Festival (SOIMF), one of the Midwest's premiere bluegrass events, returns to the Roberts Convention Centre in Wilmington this weekend, Nov. 10-11. The award-winning lineup spans the broad range of the bluegrass genre and builds to a pinnacle when members of the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame join forces on stage for the closing set on Saturday night. Hall of Fame members Doyle Lawson and Paul Williams will be joined by festival host Joe Mullins.
Lawson, Williams, and Mullins—who will appear with their own bands earlier in the festival—don’t often get the chance to share the stage. They have been pillars of the bluegrass world for many decades, shaping and molding the high lonesome vocals, sizzling instrumental solos, and harmony sounds that define the genre. The combination of their talents will raise the roof to new heights.
Host band Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers celebrate the best in bluegrass music throughout the weekend with guests including Dale Ann Bradley; Steve Gulley & New Pinnacle; Ralph Stanley II & The Clinch Mountain Boys; the Lonesome River Band; Remington Ryde; Danny Paisley & The Southern Grass; the Larry Stephenson Band; and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver.
“From Ralph Stanley II carrying on his father's legacy with the Clinch Mountain Boys to bluegrass and gospel music giant Doyle Lawson, we've assembled another weekend of award winners and fan favorites,” states festival producer Joe Mullins. “Longtime bluegrass fans plan for our event months in advance and those new to roots music are blown away with the energy inside the Roberts Centre. It's an affordable day or weekend with an incredible variety of talent. Join us.”
The doors open at 10 a.m. each day and the Main Stage will by under way by noon. In addition to the great music on stage, pickers can make their own music in Jam Session Central and feel free to keep their instruments at our Instrument Check station. Our Vendor Showroom features a variety of one-of-a-kind items including instrument accessories, jewelry, clothing, crafts, and more, along with concessions available for purchase all day. Guests will have an opportunity enter to win door prizes as well as wonderful raffle prizes including a Deering Goodtime banjo and Morgan Monroe mandolin, and tickets to the Musicians Against Childhood Cancer Bluegrass Classic.
The family-friendly environment is smoke- and alcohol-free. Parking is free. General admission passes are $40 for one day or $70 for two days and will be available at the door during the festival at 10 a.m. daily. General admission seating for children 16 and under is free with an adult ticket purchase.
